Press Release: LG Williams announces the Appearances Tour as an artwork built from its own circulation ledger, 2026

The Appearances Tour

This press release frames the "Appearances Tour" as an artwork made from the ledger of its own circulation. Extending the logic of the 2010-11 "Was Here" works, Williams treats presence not as body, object, or event, but as inscription: a date, venue, and location that begins to function as proof. The tour's forty-plus non-elite venues refuse metropolitan glamour and replace the singular opening with dispersed accumulation. Its radical move is to make the schedule the operative form of the work, collapsing announcement, documentation, and monument into one columnar structure. The piece is dry, conceptual, and quietly aggressive: presence is not a quality bestowed by prestige, but a claim that can be made anywhere.
